Memorial Day – Uniting in Remembrance

patriotic flowers 5-25-2016 (3)In December 2000, Congress enacted a law that established the National Moment of Remembrance and related activities.

This law asks all Americans to briefly stop what they are doing and quietly observe a minute of remembrance at 3 p.m. local time on Memorial Day in an uplifting act of national unity.

Therefore, when we pause for a minute, we remember all the fallen heroes – from the American Revolution to the present – who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.

We unite in this expression of gratitude and share our common heritage of what it means to be an American and we make Memorial Day, the sacred and noble holiday Congress meant it to be more relevant, especially to younger Americans.
