The armistice took effect at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918. After WW II, the U.S. recognized it as a day to pay tribute to veterans of both world wars.
Beginning in 1954, the US designated November 11th as Veterans Day to pay tribute to veterans of both world wars. As we honor our valiant veterans, let us remember to pray not only for those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf, but also for all those innocent victims of oppression, violence, and war.
May they all now be resting in the eternal peace of Christ Jesus ~ Amen.
